Though inspired by the words of John McCain and Sarah Palin at the just-concluded Republican National Convention, I am perplexed by some activities that took place at the gathering.

Specifically, I’m bothered by the fact that, on several occasions during the convention, Code Pink activists made it all the way to the convention floor before being rounded up by security officials.

Photos like the one above prompt me to wonder how the pink-clad anti-war liberals penetrated security at Xcel Energy Center and made it to within 30 feet of the stage as Palin delivered her speech and nearly as far as McCain delivered his the following night.

One news report offers a partial explanation:

Medea Benjamin and Jodi Evans said they got into the Xcel Energy Center by asking people who were leaving the Center if they could have their credentials. A person gave them two passes.*

Here’s to hoping security around the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees improves as they campaign across the country during the next two months.  A repeat of the RNC fiasco could prove disastrous to both the GOP and the nation at large.

*Evans is a Code Pink co-founder and one of Barack Obama’s top bundlers, according to a Gateway Pundit report.
