In a post published Aug. 15, I highlighted “news” about a supposedly-bipartisan energy plan hatched by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and a “Group of 10″ U.S. senators. Less than 30 days later, my friends at the American Petroleum Institute tell me the group of senators has now grown to include 16 members. Unfortunately, the now-larger group (a.k.a., the “Group of 16″) remains obsessed with an energy proposal that is light on new production and heavy on new taxes.
Apparently, members of the “Group of 16″ haven’t read The Truth About Oil and Gasoline: An API Primer, a document released today by API. Otherwise, they would have acted a long time ago to put together a truly bipartisan national energy plan.
If you find yourself among the vast majority of Americans who think Congress should get its act together and support expanded energy exploration, I invite you to DRILL CONGRESS! in three ways:
- First, share this post with your members of Congress;
- Second, contact Senate Majority Leader Reid and let him know it’s time to drill. He can be reached via several means listed at the bottom of this page; and
- Third, encourage others to do the same by ordering and wearing a slick, conversation-starting DRILL CONGRESS! t-shirts like the one shown at right.
Don’t wait! Do these things today!
