Vice presidential nominee Joe “Gaffe-Machine” Biden had “bad days” in the headlines this week and stands at risk of being thrown under the bus by the man atop the Democratic Party ticket, Barack Obama. A sampling of headlines from the nation’s newspapers appears below:
- New York Post: Joe Gets Taken To The Woodshed” (Geoff Earle, 9/24/08)
- [New York] Daily News: Barack Obama Tells Running Mate Joe Biden To Keep Quiet (Michael McAuliff, 9/23/08);
- The Columbus Dispatch: Biden’s Clean-Coal Critique Has Democrats Scrambling (Jack Torry and Jonathan Riskind);
- The Richmond Times-Dispatch: No Coal’ Comment Follows Biden To Va. (Neil H. Simon); and
- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: McCain Campaign Jumps On Biden’s Clean Coal Comments (James O’Toole).
Keep up the good work, Joe!

Whaddaya think, Bob: is this part of the calculated “October Surprise”, setting up Biden to replace him with Clinton? Or do you think Hillary will duck this maneuver, because she really wants Oblahblah to fail in ’08, so the deck is clear for her to declare “See?” and line up her run in ’12?
