Corruption at every level, including embezzlement, cover-ups, misuse of taxpayer funds and voter fraud. Those were the allegations aired by James Terry about the community organizing group known as ACORN during an oversight hearing conducted by the joint House Administration and House Judiciary Committee. An excerpt of the testimony by Terry, chief public advocate for the Consumers Rights League, appears below:
“ACORN routinely says it will clean up its act. Yet, given its decade-long history of voter fraud, embezzlement, and misuses of taxpayer funds, ACORN’s pattern of fraud can no longer be dismissed as a series of ‘unfortunate events.’
“The problem of voter registration fraud raises serious questions for this committee, and the Consumers Rights League appreciates that the right questions are being asked.
“Here are the most important questions right now: We know about the thousands of potentially fraudulent voter registration cards turned in by ACORN and caught by officials. But given the size of ACORN’s efforts and the fact that the abuses appear to be systemic, we believe it is fair to question how many more fraudulent registrations have not been discovered, Furthermore, as this mega organization with a decades long history of violating the law is turned to get out the vote efforts, we believe it is fair to question how many fraudulent registrations may lead to fraudulent votes or what other activities they are willing to undertake to influence the election.
“These are serious questions, especially in light of recent election results which show that a just few votes can change the outcome of an election, the course of our country and the course of history.
“While we do not presume to tell this committee how to address this problem, we respectfully submit that our nation’s election system is facing a concerted campaign that raises serious issues that merit the committee’s oversight and attention.”

The connection to Mr. Obama is interesting too but I suppose the committee wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.
The Obama connection to ACORN is deep and the connections to Democrat voter fraud are wide, especially in Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis (East St. Louis, IL).
This comes up each election cycle but nothing is done in between. ACORN is too valuable a tool of the Democrats to unwind.

Don — I’m afraid you’re right, especially on that last point.

I am surprised that eventually the ACORN matter got a hearing. As far the hearing finding a connection between ACORN and Obama – probability-wise, this is less likely than this poster’s rushing to buy some Enron shares.

If it’s Enron stock your looking for try Paul Krugman, former Enron busy body, aka NY Times hitman who may have some for sale.
Currently he’s using his Enron stocks to wallpaper the Times bathrooms.
Afterall, each time Krugman writes he sells himself to the Liberal Socialist Machine.

Don — What does ENRON and the NY Times have to do with this post? Sounds like a grudge going on. Please post your comments where they are appropriate.

The only thing this so-called non-partisan front group CRL is protecting is big business interests with their free market at any cost “democratization of credit” motto. The right is utterly threatened by the mobilization of the poor and low income people. And rightfully so, the rich have gotten absurdly rich in the past 8 years off the backs of poor people and they have the same rights to vote, just like any rich person or CEO. When a group registers nearly 1.7 million people there are bound to be some missed, incorrect registrations! It’s called statistics and human error and if it’s only in the thousands then I’d say that’s a fantastic number! So here we see the right’s plan for challenging the election by instituting fear. Well, the fight is on. Power to THE People!!!

CosmicH2Ogirl — I would like to think you’re not serious, but realize you probably are. After all, you live in a constant state of victimhood. As for ACORN, you can make all the excuses you want to, but fraud is fraud is fraud.

Cosmicdrugburnoutgirl is probably an ACORN operative, from the drivel she wrote. ACORN was caught trying to pass off hundreds of fraudulent voter registrations in Colorado in ‘04 and again in ‘06. ACORN is much like other fringe groups in the liberal movement: fraud and deceit are the only ways they can win. Obama is in it with ‘em, but there’ll never be any proving it, even though he is the roots he left behind in Chicago. I stand by earlier statements (and hope): that the majority of reasoned, rational American voters can’t be fooled by Obama, George Soros, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, or the fringe groups that flock around them like flies on fresh dung.

Amusing people here …Aryan Nations wannabes and their lunatic rants about conspiracy theories of Socialist, Communist or Marxist take-overs of the USA. Your inane loud-mouthed opinions are what is the biggest disgrace and embarrassment to the people of the United States. Why don’t you take your racism, political ignorance and your whole McCarthyism nostalgia club to another country and see what the rest of the world thinks?

Dan — You have me confused with someone in one of your groups — ACORN or SEIU, I’m guessing.
