During the third and final presidential debate taking place tonight at Hofstra University, John McCain should use some current examples to remind Barack Obama that the world is an extremely dangerous place.

One example affords McCain an opportunity to encourage Americans and Israelis to thank God for a ragtag bunch of Somali pirates.  He can find details in an article published 16 days after the pirates came to the world’s attention via reports like this one.

In the piece, writer Brian Harring proffered a heretofore-undisclosed subplot to the news story about the hijacking of an Iranian cargo ship by Somali pirates:  The ship was equipped to serve as a giant “dirty bomb” destined for the coast of Israel.  In addition to the terrorism angle on which Obama is perceived as weak, the mere mention of Israel is sure to make Obama squirm.

Another example involves sharing news — here and here — about seven missing Afghan scholars who came to the United States to study at the University of Washington are now missing, seemingly without a trace.  Stealing a page from Ross Perot’s playbook, he could produce colorful charts showing unclassified intelligence about terror plots that have been attributed to terror groups based in Afghanistan.

Both examples contain food for thought McCain can use to convince voters that Obama is NOT the right man to lead this country and McCain is.
