Spread the News About ‘Obama, No Merci Beacoup’

October 25th, 2008 · 6 Comments

“OBAMA, NO MERCI BEAUCOUP” might be the campaign song of the year.  Though uploaded to YouTube in mid-September, it has received few views to date — and that needs to change!

Written and performed in the video above by Poor James and the Swamp Crows, the song title (“No thank you, very much” in French) and lyrics are based on actual statements Obama has made, actions he has taken, and his published agenda, according to band member James Earl.

“I am but a poor songwriter living in the sticks,” Earl writes in the “More Info” section next to the video on YouTube.  “We do what we can. I think you will find ‘Obama, No Merci Beaucoup’ hard hitting but fair.”

I agree with Earl’s assessment as well as his call for action below.

“Pass it on to your conservative friends to rally them and any libs you may know to throw them off their game a bit.”

Combined with the cajun, swamp music flavor, the lyrics (below) tell you almost everything you need to know about Democratic Party presidential nominee Barack Obama:

He never met a tax he didn’t like.
He’s got crazy friends like Rev. Wright.
He’d rather give away the farm than fight.
No merci beaucoup.

Obama, no merci beaucoup,
Obama, no merci beaucoup,
Obama, no merci beaucoup,
No merci beaucoup.

He thinks oil should be against the law.
He runs down America.
He’s ashamed of his own Grandma.
No merci beaucoup.

Hey you good people that work all day,
he’s got plans to dock your pay,
and let his unemployed voters go and ___ it away,
No merci beaucoup.

Hat tip to Gateway Pundit who says, “Forget the Hopey-Changer Cult singing their ‘Prayers to Obama,’ this song here kicks it!”

armida — It means not every comments makes it past me. A lot of liberals leave profane and nonsensical comments here that are not worthy of appearing on this site. BTW, I sent the post to you via e-mail.

But…the lyrics to this song make sense? Not proud of his own grandma (that he just took time off the trail to go see)? Oil should be against the law?

I’m all for funny songs that poke fun at the candidates. But it’s only funny when it’s true. This song was ridiculous and not clever, which is why no one is viewing it on YouTube.

Angela — Actually, it’s true and three separate postings of the video have netted some 15,000 views in a month. More interest than anyone has in your comment, I’ll betcha!

UPDATE — Poor James sent a message, saying: “Thanks loads for your help in getting this thing on its feet. I think you were the turning point. In truth, my only interest is doing what I can to thwart Mr. Obama. I would dance on a piano in red long handles with a plunger on my head if I thought it would do any good. The band members are buddies of mine who helped me to get this out pronto. Grassroots equals cheap. My dog Milo however demanded payment in dogchow. (mercenary)
What you are doing for the song is exactly what is needed. Perhaps one of the big radio guys will get wind of it and kick it to the next level. We are at 30,000 hits as of this A.M. Can’t thank you enough Bob. You are a true patriot. Hang tough.
    Your humble servant, Poor James.”

To which I say, “Glad to help, James! Keep up the good work!”
