A report in Editor & Publisher today leads me to believe there might be a positive trend taking shape on the horizon.
America’s oldest journal covering the newspaper industry reports top executives and editors from several major dailies in the Northeast, dissatisfied with The Associated Press, met recently to discuss the formation of a content-sharing agreement that in several cases would serve in place of their AP agreements.
The news comes almost four months after Steve Boriss at The Future of News reported that a brewing battle between AP and its member newspapers will make papers healthier and their readers happier.
I agree, Steve. Less AP and more diversity of reporting and opinion is good for all involved.
