BBC Radio Offers Chance to ‘Talk to the Taliban’

October 31st, 2008 · 12 Comments

Across the pond, the folks at the BBC’s World Have Your Say radio program are providing a forum via which visitors to their web site can “talk” to the Taliban (i.e., radical Islamic terrorists).

If you would like to communicate with one of these ruthless Jihadist murderers, I encourage you to visit their web site and offer your question(s) in the form of a comment just like I did.

Unfortunately, my questions did not survive the politically-correct program’s comment moderation process.  I did, however, save them — in the form of both text and a screengrab image — after they were submitted at  at 4:10 p.m. UK time:

I would like to know if Barack Obama is a member of the Taliban.  If he is, does he have a secret code name?  Did he join your band of jihadists during his 1981 trip to Pakistan — when the country was under Martial Law, under Sharia Islamic Law and both Christians and U.S. citizens were prohibited from entering the country?  Please advise.

So much for open dialogue.

Based on the results of my attempt to participate, I have to conclude that World Have Your Say is an inappropriate name for the BBC program.  Instead, it should be changed to World Have Your Say As Long As What You Say Is Politically Correct.

UPDATE: Forty-two minutes after posting my first comment/questions and mere moments after published this post, I posted the following comment/question at the BBC site.  To show you where it would fit into the comment stream if approved, I offer the graphic below:

So much for open dialogue. My comment / question was removed, apparently because it was politically incorrect. Fortunately, I saved a screenshot of it as it was awaiting “comment moderation.” You can view it at the following address: http://bobmccarty.com/2008/10/31/bbc-radio-offers-chance-to-talk-to-the-taliban/.

Hey! You have my last message on your screenshot too! :) I see you have been to cafeepress for t-shirts and other election goodies too! :)

Hit ‘em in their censorship, Bob! Small wonder the UK is sinking into gradual politically correct apathy, and will rue the day when Sharia law trumps their own. Let us pray that this day NEVER touches the USA in my life time.

Wow, so you design those yourself and sell them? That’s GREAT! It looks like you get really creative and have a variety of great items for sale. How do I go about seeing what you make?

I would love to buy more than I have already but I’ve spent way too much $$ ! :( Please send me the info anyway! ;)

“If he is, does he have a secret code name?”

    lol!

I don’t see why the BBC removed your comment…I thought it was a clever commentary on the absurdity of the claims that Obama is a terrorist.

patriot584 — Glad to see you got a laugh out of the Uhhbama-related post above. As for “the absurdity of the claims that Obama is a terrorist,” I must correct you: No “claims” were made. Instead, only questions were asked. Like their USA counterparts, the folks at BBC don’t appreciate questions that hold potential to reflect poorly on “The Obamessiah.”

Yeah, the BBC might as well just admit they were always rooting for Obama. Whenever I see a story about him on TV, I half expect the news people to start singing “Halleluja!”

Asking questions is fine; I wasn’t directing the “claims” thing at you, but rather at the people who honestly believe he’s a terrorist. Or that he’s a Muslim, which is apparently just as bad.

Yes, although the BBC has improved a little in what it will allow through, it has a long and sad history of censorship of opinions it doesn’t like and many cunning methods to stamp out those opinions. One of the worst is to delay publication of your comment and then publish it in its original time slot when the debate has moved on and very few people will notice it since few bother to browse backwards through a thread.

I sent BBC blogs many comments on Obama that didn’t make it though at all. None broke any BBC rules, but simply mentioned his intimate association with Wright, Ayers and others in a bit too much detail, evidently.

The ‘impartial’ BBC supported Obama with the enthusiasm and devotion of teenage girls at a rock concert with Obama as the lead singer, while pouring scorn on the Republicans, especially Sarah Palin. If the organisation had a concept of journalistic ehtics, it would be deeply ashamed of the coverage by the motley crew it sent over to America, chief among them North America ‘editor’ Justin Webb..

    Great blog, by the way.

    Brian,

I consider the BBC an adversary with whom I play games. Though I’m always outnumbered by liberals, I know exactly what to expect when I appear on a program or post a comment. Thanks for the kudo!

    Bob,

    Thanks for the thanks.

From what I’ve seen on the internet, Republican supporters are taking their defeat quite graciously while the Democrats are still bitterly ranting on blogs about Palin and George Bush. I thought their comments would be full of joy and that they would be looking to the future.

I guess they simply have to have something to bitch about. Could be they are horrified that Obama appointed Emmanuel.

Here’s a UK blog that does a lot of good work exposing the BBC. Has a few Americans in the comments sections:
