Three days after news broke about Barack Obama’s Kenyan aunt, Zeituni Onyango, living in public housing in Boston, more shocking news related to her plight broke this morning. According to an Associated Press report, she has been living in the United States illegally for more than four years after she had her request for asylum rejected by a judge.
Aside from the obvious loopholes in HUD that allowed “Aunt Zeituni” to live in Section 8 housing, the implications of this news are many:
- Will “Aunt Zeituni” be deported immediately?
- Will she be or jailed for a time until she can be deported?
- Will she receive aide from her nephew, the Democratic Party presidential nominee — perhaps in the form of a legal storm that attempts to delay her deportation until after inauguration day when, he hopes, he’ll be able to grant her asylum request?
- Will she reveal information about the birth of her nephew in Kenya in exchange for a reversal of the ruling that denied her asylum request?
This one is sure to make news for days.

UPDATE 11/01/08 10:52 a.m. CST: According to a Times Online report, the following seems to add to Barack Obama’s campaign contributions fraud campaign:
Barack Obama’s ‘Auntie Zeituni’, found by The Times living on a Boston housing estate, appears to have made an illegal contribution to her nephew’s presidential campaign because she is not a US citizen.

I love the hypocrisy of wealthy Americans. They ALL employ illegal immigrants. This is the new slave trade. These people hire illegal baby nurses, nannies, housekeepers, gardeners, cooks, caregivers, and many menial jobs – for less than minimum wage – and remain culpably ignorant as they ask no questions. But it suits our wealthy to keep a lid on it as they get cheap labour and they don’t want to do the hard work!

Marina — The case of “Aunt Zeituni” has nothing to do with slave trading and/or wealth. It has to do with immigration law. Based on your spelling of the word, “labour,” I’d have to guess that you’re a Brit who doesn’t have a dog in this fight. So butt out of our affairs, will you?!

If it’s being suggested that Obama had personal family reasons for being “liberal and/or indifferent” to our immigration laws, than you can be assured, the conservative eager beavers pumping this story has just handed Obama his biggest boost in securing nearly ALL OF THE MEXICAN AMERICAN VOTE!

If you think “Aunt Zeituni” has problems, consider Obama’s brother that lives in a shack in Kenya. The problem with socialists like Obama is that they can talk the talk but not walk the walk of kindness.

The funniest part of this is that Obama himself is responsible for outing her by mentioning her in his book. He also told immigration officials they should enforce the law. He’s throwing her under the bus along with his white grandma. I wonder if his first act as President will be a pardon?
