Susan Rice is back in the news today, mentioned as a possible choice to serve as our nation’s ambassador to the United Nations. But is this woman a good choice for such a high-profile position?
Not to be confused with current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Susan Rice is a top Barack Obama foreign policy advisor who made headlines eight months ago for letting it be known that neither her boss nor Hillary Clinton was prepared to handle a crisis by answering the much-talked-about 3 a.m. phone call.
For the most part kept out of the media spotlight since making the gaffe back on March 6, Susan Rice‘s name surfaced again in early July. At that time, she was quoted in Pakistan’s Daily Times touting Obama’s boneheaded belief that a 16-month time frame for a U.S. troop withdrawal in Iraq was still achievable.
Further, she said Obama remained committed to a “responsible, careful redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq” and to starting it “from the early days of his administration” and that “the best advice, military advice, that (Obama has) received has been that a responsible pace is one to two combat brigades a month.”
As a former football quarterback and basketball point guard, I learned that “telegraphing” your moves (i.e., letting your opponent know in advance what your next move — whether a pass, a dribble or a shot — would be) was a bad thing. Both Obama and Rice are guilty of telegraphing.
During the week of Aug. 13, she defended Obama’s call for leaders of the former Soviet state of Georgia to exercise restraint after being invaded by Russia during the so-called South Ossetia Crisis:
“It was not clear at that stage” what the actual conditions were and Obama wanted to react cautiously “rather than shooting from the hip,” Susan Rice said, adding that Obama’s “subsequent statements have been a reflection of events on the ground.”
In this case, Susan Rice is not guilty of telegraphing moves, she’s just guilty of being an accomplice to stupidity and naivete in the area of foreign affairs.
Perhaps keeping her out of the spotlight was a smart move. Let’s hope she stays in the dark, far from the Oval Office, particularly during discussions of foreign policy.

If Susan Rice is any indication of the type of folks Obama’s gonna foist on us, oy vay…I hear talk of Gary Hart as head of Homeland Security! Gary HART? That’s like ringing the dinner bell for Islamofascists to feast on domestic America at will!
The Dems can’t be as STUPID as the media, can they? Or was that a rhetorical question?

Anything will be better than these Islmofascist Republicans that let 911 happen. Bush got the NSC memo in August about the pending attack…and he went on vacation, he warned top administration officials not to fly on commercial flights, but said nothing to anyone else.
But Republicans favor multinational corps and oil sheiks over America.
Thank the Lord above that they are gone!

Charlie — Take a powder! The election’s over. Your guy won. Get past the campaign mud, buddy. We’ll all be better for it.
