Eighteen months ago, just prior to Memorial Day 2007, I introduced a 12-part series of stories written by my father, now 84, about his days as an Army private in Europe during World War II. Today, with Veterans Day being observed Tuesday, I feel obligated to highlight these stories again.
Please read these war stories and share them with people you know who may or may not have a deep appreciation for what members of the Armed Forces did during World War II and continue to do today. In addition, I encourage you to leave comments after you read these stories, knowing I will share them with my dad (above right) as my way of saying “Thank you” both to him and to his fellow members of the “Greatest Generation” — perhaps someone you know.
So here they are again: My Father’s War Stories from World War II. Please enjoy them, learn from them and share them!
