In a Variety piece published yesterday, New York Times editor Bill Keller not only dissed “citizen journalism,” but he was quoted as telling National Public Radio that “Good journalism does not come cheap” and “There’s a real shortage of the kind of information that I would call quality journalism.” And he should know.
As you’ve probably read in some publication other than Keller’s, the leadership at the Times recently learned their company is facing a $27 million defamation lawsuit — details of which you can read here — for just such a shortage an alleged shortage.
