Though college football fans were treated to a back-to-back pair of dull bowl games, I was able to add one more win and one more loss to my predictions record for the bowl game season.
In the first game, played in Pasadena, Calif., the #5 USC Trojans defeated the #8 Penn State Nittany Lions, 38-24, in the Rose Bowl presented by Citi. Though I had predicted the Trojans would win by a wider margin, 39-6, I feel like I came close enough as the actual game wasn’t as close as the final score might have one believe.
The Orange Bowl game that followed in Miami, wasn’t much better. In that game, the #19 Virginia Tech Hokies handled the #12 Cincinnati Bearcats, 20-7, in the Orange Bowl. I had predicted the Bearcats would win, 20-17, and prove they deserved their #12 ranking. I was wrong.
Note: My record stands at 4-2 as long as you don’t count the margins of victory. Tomorrow, we watch Cotton and Sugar.
