Perhaps, I should change my name to Rumpelstiltskin, because I feel like I must have just awakened from a long sleep. That’s the only way I can explain the price tag accompanying a new top-of-the-line kitchen blender from Waring.
The Waring Pro Xtreme Hi-Power Blender, which features two sharp blades powered by a 3.5 peak horsepower motor that can reach speeds up to 45,000 RPM, is on the market for — brace yourself — $699.99. That’s a far cry from the handful of dollars my wife and I paid for an Osterizer® 10-speed blender — which, by the way, still works well — when we were newlyweds nearly a quarter-century ago. Of course, our blender doesn’t have a sound enclosure / blast shield.
