With Big Game Only Hours Away, Former Oklahoma QB Reflects on College Football Bowl Season

January 8th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Only hours away from the kickoff of the FedEx BCS National Championship Game in Miami, I find myself reflecting upon how the college football bowl season has kept this former Oklahoma quarterback-turned blogger busy during the last two weeks.

The bowl season began for me Dec. 28 when I published my second annual college football bowl predictions post.  So far, I’ve picked 6 winners out of nine games.  If my #1 Oklahoma Sooners win tonight against #2 Florida, I will have batted .700.  Not bad if I say so myself!

On Dec. 29, I came across a map drawn up by a Russian professor/former KGB operative who predicted the United States will break into several separate countries by 2010.  Soon after, I was able to offer readers of this blog a solution to the college football playoff dilemma.

On Dec. 30, I described how, thanks largely to taxpayer-funded bailouts, it appeared taxpayers were footing the bill for several college football bowl games this season.

Earlier today, I reflected on my days as an Oklahoma quarterback in a pre-championship game post about the many things I share in common with Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford.

Come back later tonight for an update on the FedEx BCS National Championship which I predicted Oklahoma will win, 42-30.  The game airs on Fox at 8 p.m. EDT.

BOOMER SOONER!

I’m just hoping for a top-notch shoot out, since BSCS can’t seem to get much right this season, and even after this game, the national champion may not truly be decided (seems Texas, USC and Utah all have something to say ’bout it this year).

I’m not an Oklahoma fan, but I am a Big 12 fan, so…..for this ‘un, Go Sooners!

Skunk — There’s always someone crying about the BCS when their team is left out. Fortunately, my team (i.e., the Sooners) seem to end up in the championship more often than most of the BCS whiners (i.e., Texas).
