Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) used a YouTube video yesterday to express his extreme disappointment with President George W. Bush’s decision to give the Obama Administration and the Democrat-controlled Congress a “welcome present” in the form of the second $350 billion installment of the “vastly mismanaged and irresponsible $700 billion bank bailout to spend without oversight.”
“I was opposed to this bailout from the very beginning,” said Senator Inhofe, “and as the first $350 billion installment disappeared with no oversight, no transparency, and zero results, I spoke out and have fought for my legislation — S.64 — to put an end to the bailout and prevent the second $350 billion from being spent in the same manner.
“At the time I opposed the bailout, I predicted that 20 to 30 years from now, historians will say that the 2008 $700 billion bailout was the most outrageous vote in the history of the United States Congress.”
Near the end of the video, Senate Inhofe asks Americans who share his opinion to contact their elected officials in Washington, D.C. — especially their U.S. senators — and let them know how they feel.
