Vice President Joe Biden’s speculation about the possibility of things going awry with the so-called “Economic Stimulus Package,” reported in the Washington Times and other media outlets five days ago, may have been the most forthright comment yet uttered by anyone in the Obama Administration:
“Not since World War II has a caucus gathered with so many challenges facing our country and the stakes so high,” he said. “If we do everything right … there’s still a 30 percent chance we’re going to get it wrong. You, too.”
Unfortunately, it’s not likely that the gaffe-prone vice president’s honesty will be rewarded. Instead, he’ll probably end up “under the bus,” sharing now-crowded space with so many others who’ve embarrassed President Barack Obama.
Rather than ask Biden to resign, however, President Obama will merely relegate him to handling more-mundane tasks, such as leading Special Olympics delegations, during the next four years.
