With five bills introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives so far this year, the Constitutional rights of gun owners are being threatened like never before in the 111th Congress.
Ten days ago, I published a post, Democrats in Rush to Seize Guns with H.R. 45, about H.R. 45, a bill introduced by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.). Among other things, it will require a license for handguns and semiautomatics, including those currently possessed, if passed.
Below are notes about four more pieces of gun-related legislation (with the names of lawmakers who introduced each bill appearing in parentheses) that have been introduced in the House:
- H.R. 17 (Bartlett): This bill would reaffirm the right to use firearms for self-defense and for defense of one’s home and family;
- H.R. 197 (Stearns): This bill would establish national standards for concealed carry reciprocity, but would not protect residents of pro-gun states like Vermont and Alaska which do not require paper permits;
- H.R. 442 (Rehberg): This bill would provide amnesty for a veteran who acquired a “souvenir” (such as a machine gun) while serving overseas, so long as it is registered during a 90-day grace period; and
- H.R. 495 (Rodriguez, Teague, Engel, Reyes): This bill would authorize $15,000,000 for two years to the BATFE for the purpose of enhancing its project to thwart the transportation of firearms across the Mexican border.
If you’re as disgusted as I am with Democrats in Congress attempting to take away our Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms, CONTACT YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS in Washington, D.C., and demand they stop tampering with your rights to keep and bear arms.
Threaten them with your vote. Say whatever it takes to convince them that the Second Amendment is not something with which Congress — and President Barack Obama — should tamper.
NOTE: At this time, no new legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate.

Threatening them with your vote doesn’t do any good. They just laugh at you. It’s going to have to come down to something more serious than a vote if we want our rights restored.

Could gun control be thing against blacks? Black is the prevalent color of firearms and a certain race. When blacks were freed at the end of the civil war gun control laws were passed in southern state barring ownership of firearm by blacks. A person with one eighth black blood was declared black (overcoming seven eighths white blood). A black president appears to be a catalyst for buy guns now!
A black in time may save us all!

Ronald — Your comment is kind of cryptic, but here’s what I think: Efforts to take away our Second Amendment rights have less to do with color than they do with liberal government leaders’ desire to control the masses.
