In a news release late this afternoon, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and investigative partners the Memphis police and fire departments and the FBI said investigators have determined that the incident today involving a vehicle explosion in Memphis, Tenn., was caused by a vapor explosion.
Furthermore, investigators have ruled that no explosive device was used in the incident and no criminal activity is suspected. The victim of the vapor explosion has been released from a local hospital. The law enforcement investigation is closed.
