Fox News Channel’s Neil Cavuto closed the Monday afternoon edition of his program, Your World with Neil Cavuto, with an excellent idea paraphrased below:
He said we need to take back 90 percent of the money we’ve given to them, because they’ve proven they don’t know how to do their jobs, have done their jobs poorly and do not deserve the compensation they receive for their efforts.
About whom was he speaking? No, he wasn’t talking about insurance giant AIG. The subject of his message was Congress.
To make his idea come true, we need to vote out all of the scoundrels in Congress, replacing them instead with honest candidates who pledge to undo all of the mistakes we’ve seen the 111th Congress commit.

Actually we did vote out Congress. In 2006 and 2008. You may have heard, we also elected a new President, a Democrat.! The 111th is doing now what they were elected to do, which is to begin repairing the damage from the past 8 years.
Will it be easy? Hardly. We are now reaping the results of decades of conservative philosophies, i.e., laissez faire regs (check financial market, meltdown), deferred maintenance on physical and human infrastructure, military adventurism, and tax policies that punish the middle class. How soon the media forget!
Good luck to Cavuto in trying to retake Congress. That’s why we have elections. In the meantime we have a recession, Iraq, Afghanistan, terrorism, a banking crisis, crumbling infrastructure and education & health care issues that have been put off too long.
Has Congress dropped the ball? Damn straight they have. Do the American people wish to return to the Reagan, Bush I and Bush II days? Good luck with that. Tax cuts for the weathy, deficit spending to mask the failures of the economy, invade foreign countries when the market heads south (Mar 2003!) and get the gov’t off the backs of the financial wizards and entrepreneurs. This is Reaganism and Bushism, in fact, this is modern conservatism, in a nutshell. You may need a new message to fool the American voters once again.
