Survey: Lawyers Expect Boom in Bankruptcy

March 26th, 2009 · 4 Comments

A country that elects Barack Obama, a liberal lawyer, as its president should not be surprised by the results of a recent survey by Robert Half Legal:  Three-hundred attorneys from among the largest law firms and corporations in the United States and Canada were asked, “In your opinion, which one of the following areas of law will experience the most growth in the next 12 months?” Their responses appear below:

Bankruptcy 51%
Litigation 31%
Ethics and corporate governance 6%
Intellectual property 4%
Real estate 1%
Mergers and acquisitions 1%
Labor relations/employment 1%
Other 2%
Don’t know 3%

“The current recession and financial crisis have increased demand for bankruptcy services and resulted in a higher volume of litigation,” said Charles Volkert, executive director of Robert Half Legal. “In response, law offices are hiring lawyers and other legal professionals on a full-time and project basis to augment their practice offerings.”

Welcome to Obama’s “Land of Hope and Change,” populated by more bankruptcy and litigation lawyers.

Well, he’s gotta pay off his trial lawyer contributions somehow, just as he’s tryin’ to pay off unions by letting them run roughshod on Corporate America with IntimidationCheck, oozing through the outhouse of Democrapic Congress.

    You’ve got that right, Skunky!

Robert Half Legal’s survey is a joke! Law firms are laying off attorneys daily. Over the past six months, more and more legal work has been outsourced to lawyers in such faraway places as India.

Nat — Sounds as if you have a vested interest in the matter.
