Five months ago, I reported that the number of chicago murders in 2008 topped the number of U.S. soldier deaths in Iraq and that the mainstream media had failed to report it. Now, an update:
Today, the Chicago Daily Herald reports seven Chicago men — all in their 20s or 30s — were shot and killed during a 24-hour period this weekend. Conversely, the entire U.S. military suffered only — and I don’t mean any disrepect using by using the word, “only” — six combat-related deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq died during the entire week of May 25-31.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. How could this happen? I know it was getting pretty bad my last year there. I used to do business in many of the neighborhoods on the south side. I probably would reconsider today based on the amount of violence.
