‘Open Letter’ to Obama Speaks Volumes

June 4th, 2009 · 14 Comments

Look at the statements below, then try to guess the identity of the person Lou Pritchett was describing as someone who “scares” him in a letter published May 19 at DallasBlog.com:

  • I know nothing about you;
  • I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support;
  • You did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American;
  • You have never run a company or met a payroll;
  • You have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core;
  • You lack humility and “class”, always blaming others;
  • For over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail;
  • You are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America’ crowd and deliver this message abroad;
  • You want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector;
  • You want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one;
  • You prefer “wind mills” to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves;
  • You want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world;
  • You have begun to use “extortion” tactics against certain banks and corporations;
  • Your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals;
  • You will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people;
  • You falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient;
  • The media gives you a free pass on everything you do;
  • You demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view;
  • You prefer controlling over governing; and
  • If you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.
Lou Pritchett

Lou Pritchett

The letter was an open letter to President Barack Obama. In addition to revealing one man’s opinion of the Commander-in-Chief, the letter is, I suspect, reflective of the opinion of millions of others.  So why make light of it?  Because of the person who wrote the letter.

Author Lou Pritchett is described at the end of the letter as “a well-known public speaker who retired after a successful 36-year career as the VP World Sales for Proctor and Gamble.”

In other words, and as evidenced in the content of his web site, he knows business.

Just thought I would share.

    Sometimes I wonder if we all are safe writing the truth about Dear Leader, and this is in the first six months.

    “Boohoo, we lost the election. This new guy is going to ruin everything.”

    Wow, a list of unsubstantiated partisan charges from an apparent right-wing crackpot.

    This is just another part of the national hissy-fit being thrown by Republicans/conservatives.

    Is there even one statement in his childlike list that is not an uninformed opinion?

    By my count there are two statements related to policy… one a falsehood about healthcare and a second on energy policy extolling the virtues of coal and natural gas over non-CO2 producing sources.

    Perhaps Mr. Pritchett would care to opine on the quality of our governance between 2000 and 2008.

    More than half of Americans would disagree the 8 Cheney/Bush years were good for our country, hence the outcome of the election. Is it really significant that conservatives are unhappy with a liberal Democratic African-American President? What would we expect?

    It’s hard to see things clearly from your mother’s basement, isn’t it, Jeffery?

  • 5 hotoffthepress2 // Jun 5, 2009 at 7:35 pm

    Dear Readers,

    It seems Jeffery had a breakdown, went into typical liberal rant-and-rave mode; therefore, I deleted his last two comments. Didn’t think you would mind. Thanks!

    Jeffery seems content to bray rather than rebut. But Leftwingnuts have a hard time dealing with the truth and finding whinning to be their only realistic option.

    Well President 666 was elected.
    I’m sure Carter and Clinton are relived now that someone else has the title of most incompetent and most corrupt.

    Surprising that Mr. Pritchett does not know how a best selling author supports himself. Or that those who are not already wealthy can get an Ivy League education. He makes a point of “knowing nothing”.

    He forgot one.
    You scare me because you are an educated black man.

  • 9 janjer1 // Jul 16, 2009 at 10:26 am

    Dear Lou

    You are the most recent in a long line of hypocritical corpratist racists I have encountered in my 55 years on earth. Unlike some of the others you don’t scare me.

    You don’t scare me because you are an open book. Easily read and understood.

    You don’t scare me because even though you have benefitted your whole life from government subsidized public education, government subsidized military, fire and police protection, government susidized highway systems, government subsidized postal services and many other government services – you have joined the legions of hypocritical anti-government propagandists.

    You don’t scare me because you are the typical self-centered racist who sees American and America only as a reflection of himself.

    You don’t scare me because you make your living not producing anything of relevant importance but have joined the legions of pro-corporate bloviators like Hannity and Limbaugh and the audience for your ilk is fast decreasing.

    You don’t scare me because you, as other un-educated people, don’t understand that we are a civilian run government and while military service to our nation may be laudable – it is no more honorable than service in any other way (teachers, police…etc).

    You don’t scare me because you sit in relative luxury while millions go without and denegrate their efforts at rising up from poverty through honest efforts by NEVER lending a hand and blasting our collective (government) efforts to do so.

    You don’t scare me because it’s not so much that you don’t have class – it’s that you don’t even know what it means to have class or character or humility or compassion.

    You don’t scare me because the radical right wing element you have associated yourself with is a vast minority of our nation and will eventually be purged entirely from our community simply by shining a light on the rocks you dwell under.

    You don’t scare me because the America: love-it-or-leave-it philosophy you espouse is as irrelevant, misguided an myopic as any we have collectively thrown onto the dustheap of history.

    You don’t scare me because your supply-side philosophy has (again) been shown to be false by our present economic tragedy cause by laissez-fair policies and that greed is not good and, in fact, only leads to the rich getting richer and the middle class disappearing.

    You don’t scare me because of people like you we will finally be able to reign-in the corporate pirates who have taken over our government.

    You don’t scare me because corporatists like you are quickly going the way of the dinosaurs. No longer will the greed of private interests be able to take precedent over the public good.

    You don’t scare me because through all your hypocritical blustering about a “government controlled” health care system I know you have family and close friends who have benefitted from Medicare or the VA system – both very efficient government controlled healthcare systems.

    You don’t scare me because with all your wealth and pro oil company stance – you and your childrens’ children will have to breathe the same oil-polluted air and drink the same oil polluted water as the rest of us.

    You don’t scare me because like many un-educated people you seem ignorant of the fact that the reason we became a great nation was due to a tightly regulated business class – not by letting them run roughshod over our communities. Corporations are given license by The People to do business in America to benefit The People. If they don’t – they should be shut down.

    You don’t scare me because your lame attempts at rewriting history will never obfuscate the truth that the strength of America comes from it’s citizens acting collectively through its democratically elected government – not any boardroom who hold allegience to only profit.

    You don’t scare me because you cannot intellectually or morally argue that we are NOT our brother’s keepers.

    You don’t scare me because you align yourself with multi-national pro-corporate anti-American forces. And, like other terrorists set on the destruction of our nation – you will be stopped. Through the one weapon that you cannot own – DEMOCRACY!

  • 10 hotoffthepress2 // Jul 16, 2009 at 10:37 am

    Janjer — Lou Pritchett might not scare you, but YOU SCARE ME. Remove each “don’t” from your diatribe above, and you’ll have a picture of exactly why YOU SCARE ME.

  • 11 Demolishun // Aug 10, 2009 at 2:21 pm

    Democracy ultimately leads to an Oligarchy.

    If you are a TV child like me then you will need to pictures to spell it out for you. I dare you to have an open mind and understand WHAT is really going on when someone tells you a democratic government is better. The reason I dare you is MOST people are cowards and will just spew garbage. Don’t be a coward. Come to the table and if it isn’t for you, go your own way.

  • 12 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 10, 2009 at 2:32 pm

    Demolishun — It appears as if you truly are a “TV child.” Unfortunately, for you that is, it appears as if you skipped class to watch the “boob tube.”

    Yes Dennis. This “educated black man” that does not know the difference between a Navy Corpsman and a “corpseman”. And he said that reading a teleprompter. What an idiot.

  • 14 photojax // Feb 16, 2010 at 12:14 am

    We all see that when they have no defense, the libs always fall back on the ‘race card”. If you do not like him you are a racist. Were all the black people that hated Bush also Racists? !!
