Officials at the American Petroleum Institute inform me that API President and CEO Jack Gerard and representatives of 15 labor unions will make a major labor-management announcement during a call-in news conference Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
In an e-mail from API, I learned that the list of individuals who will be participating in the call along with Gerard includes the following:
- J. Larry Nichols, API chairman and chairman and CEO of Devon Energy Corp.;
- Mark H. Ayers, president of the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO; and
- Doug J. McCarron, president of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America who also will be representing the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Stay tuned as I will be on that call tomorrow that is certain to generate some major headlines.
