I suspect nearly every elected Democrat — and a good number of Republicans — in Washington, D.C., owns a device — a secret weapon of sorts — like the one shown in the photograph above.  Revealed to readers of this blog for the first time, the device shown above is used by misguided politicians as they attempt to baffle their constituents with bull%&!*.

According to the source of the photo, Eric at Top Hat Tobacco, the photo depicts something known as a Tobacco Smoke Enema Kit (circa 1750-1810) that was used to infuse tobacco smoke into a patient’s rectum for various medical purposes, primarily the resuscitation of drowning victims.

He explains further that a rectal tube inserted into the anus was connected to a fumigator and bellows that forced the smoke towards the rectum.  The warmth of the smoke was thought to promote respiration, but doubts about the credibility of tobacco enemas led to the popular phrase “blow smoke up one’s a@&.”

When it comes to doubts about credibility, drowning victims and a feeling that someone’s trying to blow smoke up your a@&, thoughts of politicians — especially those of the liberal Democrat variety — come to mind.

After all, what right-thinking American doesn’t feel like he’s being lied to by politicians, like he’s drowning in a sea of taxes and regulations, and like the warm feeling on his backside is an indicator that he’s about to get burned.

Next time you feel a warm sensation in the area of your behind, look around and listen; you’ll probably spot a Democratic politician nearby.
