Disney-Marvel Merger?

Congrats to David Donar, the editorial cartoonist who designed the cartoon featured in the header of this blog and is often featured in BMW posts.  His drawing of “Hulk Mouse” was featured today in a Wall Street Journal article (Spider Mouse? Marvel/Disney Mash-Ups for True Believers) about Disney’s offer to buy Marvel Comics.  See more of David’s work at Political Graffiti.

Editor’s Note: David’s much more liberal than I am, and some of his editorial cartoons reflect that; therefore, you should consider yourself warned, but not threatened when you visit his site.  David’s a good guy; we simply have differences of opinion.

    Here’s a suggestion for a new cartoon:

    3 levels
    – top level on left – US Treasury shoveling out billions of dollars to the top banks at 1/4% interest
Caption – We can sure stimulate the economy now!
    - top level on right – US treasury auctioning treasury notes at 3.2% interest
Caption – And you thought we would have to pay high rates for the money!

middle level on left – big banks grabbing buckets of money at 1/4% interest

middle on right – big banks buying treasury notes at 3.2% interest
Caption – making a fortune safely with no work!

bottom level on both sides – millions of small businesses begging for loans and only getting a coin here or there falling out of the banks buckets

Because that’s what’s happening now! The government is spending billions in giving big banks loans for nothing. The banks are financing this give away by buying the government bonds, making themselves a fortune and making no loans to business.

Please publish some such cartoon and ask that your editorial staff address this problem!
