Obama Employs Name-Dropping Tactic

September 22nd, 2009 · 1 Comment

Recently (here and here), I’ve noted President Barack Obama inclination toward dropping the names of some of his predecessors — including Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan — into interviews with members of the news media. Because I fully expect the president to continue this practice until his current set of talking points wears out, I decided to pull a few of my favorite editorial cartoons out of the virtual file cabinet for your entertainment pleasure.

The cartoon above first appeared in the Dec. 17, 2008, post, Is Barack Obama Really Another JFK? It reappeared a couple of weeks later in the post, ‘Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians’ List Offered.  The cartoon below appeared for the first time in an April 6 post, On Slavery, Presidents Share Nothing in Common.  Both were drawn by a talented editorial cartoonist from Minnesota who, unfortunately, shut down his “My Personal Litmus” blog earlier this year.

Despite my recent time off from the web due to the illness in this household, I did manage to catch a few television film-clips on BHO’s name-dropping.

The media (mainstream) seemed to think that the name-dropping and BHO’s egotistical comparisons to historical figures were wonderful. Huh?
