Paul — I’m not blind, and I can clearly see you’re trying to sell a book; therefore, I cut the length of your comment by about 95 percent. Regarding the remainder, let me say this: I’ve lived in foreign countries, I’ve used COBRA (an option intended to be temporary, stop-gap measure), and I vehemently oppose the so-called “public option”.

The smartest people in the world learn from everyone and everything – to dismiss what lessons can be learned in a foreign country – because it is a foreign country or has some other not so envious condition is to be blind – completely blind and closed off to ideas. That’s not a very smart way to find solutions. You pick and choose from the best of what works. You leave behind the bad habits or missteps and learn from the mistakes of others. Check your red, white and blue arrogance at the door if you really want to learn anything and live in a better more peaceful, stable, equitable and sustainable world.

Each Wednesday for 9 weeks two of us under the title of The Corner Club have been protesting congressional spending and Obama’s policies at a main intersection in Bel Air, MD.
But it looks like congress is ignoring all of you and the two of us.

You remember the 1999 Tennessee Tax
Revolt when the Republican governor called a special session of the legislature to enact an income tax, right. No, well the Media might have missed it, like the ACORN story. Anyway, when the citizens found out through talk radio and E-mails, they descended on the Capitol in a mass display of indignation. In some cases citizens utilized MLK’s tactics by staging sit-ins in legislative offices. The legislature backed down and to this day Tennessee does not have a state income tax. Think congress needs a dose of this?
