News that a Washington, D.C., television station, WTTG, is cutting costs by teaching its anchors to operate their own teleprompters prompts me to wonder if such an initiative will spread across town.

President Barack Obama, arguably the most famous teleprompter-dependent person in history, follow the station’s lead and learn to operate the White House teleprompter on his own?  I doubt it.  After all, WTTG is owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation — the parent of Fox News Channel — and is known locally as “Fox5″.
