Some believe the proverbial “deck” is stacked against Kenneth Gladney (right) receiving justice. And who could blame them.
According to the National Institute for Labor Relations Research, 8,799 recorded incidents of union violence since 1975 have resulted in only 1,963 arrests and 258 convictions — roughly three percent.
More than 90 days have passed without charges being brought against Service Employees International Union thugs who beat Gladney, 39, at an Aug. 6 health care town hall meeting in South St. Louis County hosted by ultra-liberal Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.). Still, I suspect the 130-lb. diabetic and leukemia survivor might beat the odds, thanks to the no-stone-left-unturned efforts of reporters at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch BigGovernment.com who made the police report about the incident public yesterday and addressed it again in a piece today.
As a result of the Big Government efforts, certain people within St. Louis County government — notably, prosecutor Bob McCulloch and counselor Patricia Redington — must be feeling a lot of pressure to do something. It will be interesting to see what happens next. Stay tuned.
