According to one media report, President Barack Obama made strident comments about China’s human rights record Tuesday, but tempered his remarks with praise of Beijing’s growing economic sophistication and support for its efforts to reunite with Taiwan. Out of sight of reporters, however, I suspect the 44th president was willing to make a deal with President Hu Jintao throw Tibetans “under the bus” in exchange for a Chinese-aided rescue of the plummeting U.S. economy. He does have a track record for such behavior, you know. [Thanks to David Donar at Political Graffiti for the cartoon.]
