Labor Boss Acknowledges Own ‘Lambourghini Health Plan’ at Single-Payer Strategy Conference

November 17th, 2009 · 1 Comment

For those of you who need more evidence to explain how the nation’s Big Three Automakers ended up in such financial strife, take a look at the video I shot as the only journalist attending the 2009 Healthcare-Now.org National Strategy Conference Saturday afternoon in St. Louis.  It shows union heavyweight Jerry Tucker “spilling the beans” about union members enjoying not the Cadillac, but “the Lambourghini of health care plans.”

FYI: Tucker is a steering committee member for Labor for Single Payer, a director of the Healthcare Justice Education Fund, a former member of the UAW International Union Executive Committee and a co-founder of the Center for Labor Renewal.

To read more about the single-payer conference and it’s roster of liberal activists, including National Organization for Women President Terry O’Neill,” check out these posts, each of which includes videos of the speakers who addressed a crowd of about 100 liberals during the opening session of the conference.

Also, check out my just-published piece about the conference, Health Care Confab Plots Single-Payer Strategy, published today at PAJAMAS MEDIA.

A great exposure piece!. but after talking with several of the “plant” auto workers union members, it now appears that THEY no longer have the Lambourghini plans….. guess that’s for the upper level union leaders only. They have gone from an excellent health care plan to one that is literally “bare bones” in the attempt to cut costs to be competitive in the worled market…..all but the union leaders that is!
