How Would Government-Run Auto Insurance Work?

November 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

What would happen if government-run automobile insurance became a reality as the result of legislation similar to that calling for government-run health care?  Below are some possibilities:

  • Coverage would include things like car washes, oil changes and windshield wipers as well as tire and windshield wiper replacement;
  • Uninsured motorists would receive “treatment” (i.e., periodic maintenance services, emergency towing and collision repair service) at the expense of taxpayers;
  • Lines at oil change centers, auto repair shops and car washes would grow long and waiting times would increase, because people would no longer hesitate to bring their vehicles into “the shop” for the automotive equivalent of sniffles, sneezes and coughs;
  • Premiums would skyrocket, because the government would mandate certain coverage minimums and because motorists who fail to pay insurance premiums would still receive coverage.
  • Individuals who do not drive would still be forced to pay for coverage or risk being thrown in jail by the government; and, perhaps, worst of all
  • Relationships between mechanics and collision-repair experts would no longer be private.

While I’m sure more possibilities exist, I think you get the point, so take action now!

If you don’t want government in charge of your health care, CONTACT YOUR SENATORS in Washington, D.C., and demand they vote against government-run health care.  It could save your life!
