You would think that capturing an enemy combatant in hostile territory with nothing more than a bruised lip would get you a pat in the back and a “good job”.

War is war. Let the military fight and win or let them go home. If you want to win the hearts and minds and get a warm fuzzy, send over a group of therapists and 12 step programs. See how far that gets you. Bumps, bruises and fat lips are part of the game. We try to catch you, you don’t want to be caught, we take you by force. What do expect? He could have been shot in the knee. Keep up the good work guys. We are behind you all the way.

I completely agree with you, Mr. McCarty. When I heard of this “prosecution,” I was astounded and disgusted. This is precisely what politicians did to many outstanding fighting men in Vietnam–send them off to die, and then persecute them for winning when they won anything.
