Last night, I dreamed of a world without AARP.
The dream entered my slumber, probably as a result of having recently celebrated another birthday and edging one year closer to that golden age when the folks at AARP, the organization that purports to represent the nation’s seniors, add me to their mailing list.
As one not looking forward to receiving AARP’s Democratic Party propaganda, I dreamed of making a wish as I blew out the plethora of candles on my birthday cake:
“Lord, I ask that you place a hedge between me and the people at AARP so that they cannot acquire my personal information and add my name and mailing address to their list when I turn 50.”
Why am I so opposed to AARP? For starters, because the organization advocates liberal policies, such as the health care reform legislation now in the final stretch on Capitol Hill (See these posts for details). AARP was, after all, formed in 1958 as a reincarnation of the National Retired Teachers Association.
Maybe it came from God or maybe it was just the product of my twisted mind; regardless of its origin, I feel compelled to share something this morning that entered my consciousness last night after something in my AARP-infected dream — or possibly the claws of my cat who was sleeping next to me — caused me to sit bolt upright in my bed. Let me know what you think of it. To see what entered my mind last night, CLICK HERE or CLICK ON THE PHOTO ABOVE.
