Petero1818 – I think the point is, by saying “there does not appear to be a link to terrorism”, the FBI is falling into the same party line as was done with Hasan and with the Christmas airline bomber. this suspect’s actions and hardware certainly seem to me like more than a stop and rob artist.
Bushmaster semi-automatic .223 caliber (5.56 mm) assault rifle, which had been altered to fire .50 caliber ammunition.
Sounds like this weapon may be more dangerous to the user than to a target.

Actually, I think it might be you. From the above it is clear that the FBI has not reached any conclusion about this matter. They have NOT said there is NO connection to terrorism, they have stated that… “Presently, there does not appear to be a link to terrorism; Woodson does not appear to have a link to any known terrorist groups, nor a specific terrorist plot. However, the matter is still under investigation and these should only be considered preliminary findings.”

Seems pretty clear that they have not ruled out anything at this point. At this point in the investigation, which is obviously in its infancy, they don’t see the connection. Perhaps they will. It is not surprising to see a comment like this, as one would not want to see knee jerk reactions that are unsubstantiated colour an investigation. Let the investigation play out, and if the FBI deserves to be scrutinized based on their conclusions, there will be a time for it.
