The Missouri Senate Committee on Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight is set to hear testimony Thursday on a Senate joint resolution that would bring the proposed federal health care plan to a vote of Missouri’s citizens, according to Missouri State Sen. Jane Cunningham (R-Chesterfield). In a Nov. 21 interview captured in the video below, the senator explained details of the bill.
Senate Joint Resolution 25 (a.k.a., “Health Care Freedom Act”) calls for an amendment to the Missouri Constitution to preserve and protect the right of Missourians to make their own health care and health insurance choices. Specifically, it would protect the right of Missourians to pay directly for medical services, and it would prohibit Missouri families from being penalized for not purchasing bureaucrat-approved health insurance. Sponsored by Senator Cunningham, the bill is co-sponsored by 20 other Missouri senators.
Testimony is set to begin at 8 a.m. Thursday in Senate Committee Room 2 at the state capitol in Jefferson City.
