Former U.S. senators Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and Jim Talent (R-Mo.) made the media rounds Tuesday to let people know President Barack Obama and Congress had, according to the bipartisan Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism, earned failing grades in three key areas related to WMD preparedness:

1. Developing a rapid response capability;

2. Providing effective Congressional oversight; and

3. Recruiting a new generation of experts.

In the video above, Graham and Talent, the WMD commission’s chair and vice chair respectively, discuss the country’s preparation for WMD attack with Margaret Warner of PBS.

It’s worth noting that this week’s report card comes three months after the commission issued a report about the government’s failure to address an urgent biothreat.
