Genevieve — Nonprofits are not prohibited from lobbying; instead, they must jump through more regulatory hoops and accountability to engage in lobbying. As for undermining state sovereignty, they might be on some issues, but when it comes to health care freedom, I think they’re right. If you have more to back up your claims, I’m “all ears.” — Thanks! Bob, ALEC needs to be exposed for what foundations underwrite it and whether it gets federal grant money to do this political activity–because it is a NONPROFIT, it is technically prohibited from participating in political activities such as lobbying for or influencing specific legislation. It is also unconstitutional because ALEC undermines state sovereignty. Cheers, Genevieve Brown
