Republican Chuck Purgason, the 14-year veteran of the Missouri State Senate taking on Congressman Roy Blunt in the Aug. 3 GOP primary for U.S. Senate, says the results of a new poll show him as “the clear favorite” in November.
Purgason cites a Magellan Strategies poll which questioned 1,234 registered voters in the state of Missouri and found that 56 percent preferred him over the expected Democratic nominee, ultra-liberal Robin Carnahan, who received only 44 percent of the vote. The poll had a margin of error of only +/-2.79 percent and a confidence interval of 95 percent.
The Purgason camp said the poll was balanced, made up of 37 percent Republicans, 37 percent Democrats, and 26 percent Independent voters; it showed Purgason besting Carnahan in every age group as well as among men, women and independent voters; and it indicates that Missouri will be a safe Republican seat in the fall when Purgason moves on to the general election.
This poll stands in sharp contrast to all recent polling on the Missouri Senate race which shows the state as a toss up.
Just three days ago, Rassmussen Reports released a poll showing Blunt leading in the race against Carnahan by only 6 percent with a +/- 4 percent margin of error and 95 percent confidence interval.
If Blunt were to win the Republican nomination, Purgason believes the party would be in danger of losing the seat to Carnahan.
“I’m not surprised with the results at all,” said Purgason, reacting to the poll results. “Missourians are tired of these political dynasties. Integrity really does matter.”

Roy Blunt has been a no show through most of the campaign. He will not appear with his challengers, breathe their names. He has dubbed himself the heir-apparent for the Kit Bond throne. But, to quote Senator Scott Brown, “It’s the people’s seat!” We recognize that the only poll that really counts is the one on August 3. I urge every Republican to go out and vote for a man of integrity, energy, and Conservative values, Chuck Purgason. He’s a man we can trust to go Washington and serve the people’s trust.

Chuck Purgason has my vote. The Tea Party loves him! GO CHUCK PURGASON and win this battle Aug. 3rd and we will send you to the senator seat. We vote for politicians who listen to us! GO CHUCK GO!
