I’ve heard quite a bit of feedback — most of it offline — about an article I published three weeks ago in which I was the first to ask the question, Is Missouri Republican Party Trying to Limit Participation in Presidential Nomination Process? Yesterday, “Pat P.” offered the following comment below that article:
Thanks, Bob. If it weren’t for you, we might not have found out about the new election process. I’m disappointed in the MOGOP for allowing the Democrat Governor and Democrat Secretary of State and Assembly to disenfranchise Missourians’ right to vote. Missouri is very critical in the Presidential race. Legal proceedings should be looked into on this violation of our right to vote.
It appears that post, augmented by comments like the one above, struck a chord with leaders of the Missouri GOP. This morning, I received the following email message from the state party’s communications director:
I came across your piece earlier this month about the MOGOP caucuses, and I wanted to let you know that the caucus info is now online and easily accessible from the homepage (on the nav bar and one of the featured stories). This was always the plan, but first we needed to work with our county officials to make sure everyone was a aware of the change and gather county caucus locations. You’ll notice that we don’t have a complete list yet, but we’re working on it, and we will add locations as we receive them.
Any chance you’d be willing to post an update?
Thanks,
Jonathon Prouty

UPDATE 3/02/12 at 7:17 a.m. Central: It’s rare that I turn to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for details on anything, but I make an exception today as it appears folks at the Missouri GOP Headquarters are demonstrating mastery of the “Charlie-Foxtrot” approach to “politics.” This article has the details of how Missouri Republicans will have to wait weeks to find out who wins the March 17 caucuses. Can you believe it?

Bob,
Last Saturday the K & N Patriots guest speaker was Bryan Spencer, SCCRCC Chair for the St Charles County Caucus. He gave a very good explanation of the caucus process and, as we did publicize his appearance, our turnout was excellent. We will continue to be involved with the caucus from an educational and “issue” perspective because we believe that citizen participation in democratic processes is essential to the mission of defending the Constitution.

I visited the GOP website (Jan. 22), http://www.mogop.org/2012stateconvention/caucuses/ , to find the caucus location for St. Louis COUNTY. It was not listed. It seems the GOP plans to throw as many obstacles in our way as it possibly can.
