Talk Radio Alert: ‘The Dana Show’ Friday Afternoon

January 25th, 2012 · 5 Comments

I’ll be making a guest appearance Friday afternoon on The Dana Show on FM NewsTalk 97.1.

During the show’s last half hour, starting around 3:30 p.m. Central, host Dana Loesch and I will discuss an exclusive article I published Monday about a new Weldon Spring Cancer Report I obtained from the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services Dec. 29 at 5:04 p.m.

Among the things, we’ll discuss:

(1) How my search for answers about the report turned into an uphill battle; and

(2) The fact that the state health agency has yet to provide any kind of public notice or issue any news release about its report on leukemia and leukemia death rates among people living in five zip codes near the site 30 miles west of St. Louis.

It’s unforgivable for MDHSS to withhold information from people living near the site, known as the Weldon Spring Site, especially when one considers the site’s history which landed it on the EPA’s National Priorities List for cleanup in 1987 and prompted the construction of a 75-foot-tall, 42-acre disposal cell (a.k.a., “rock pile”) to hold hazardous materials in 2001.

Be sure to tune in!

This is really scary!! My family moved into the Weldon Springs area on ‘well water’ back on Sept. 1 1989. We had girls that attended the now torn down Weldon Springs Elementary School, as well as both graduating from Francis Howell. My eldest daughter did a first place Science Fair Project on ‘Radon’ – she was inside the facility frequently. We moved out in 1993. Now they are both adults with children, should I be worried?

I don’t know the answer. What people need to do is demand their elected and unelected officials be transparent and forthcoming with information so that people like you can have answers.

Bob, NICE WORK.. Keep the information flowing. I too built a house in 63366, in 1993 and moved in ’00. My old friend died last year at 52–Leukemia… His wife is still in the Twin Chimneys neighborhood. So obviously I have concern for the family that I began in that community.
How can we help you-to help us???

Bob, Thanks for your information regarding the Weldon Springs site. We were unaware of the meetings held on 2.9.12 . My husband grew up in the Weldon Springs area, went to Francis Howell HS and then later worked at the WWSRAP site for several years. His oldest son had a rare blood cancer and our daughter had leukemia. We are very interested in possible future joint litigation, if it should become a reality. I have contacted the attorneys who held the meeting for more info. I have also tried to contact Denise Brock, via Linkedin. Thanks for your continued investigation.
    Chris
