Please indulge me as I share an email message from a friend of mine, T.J. “Birk” Birkenmeier, a veteran in the St. Louis advertising industry and mastermind behind the once-viral “Birk Plan” which appeared on this blog three and a half years ago:
I’m working very hard today on an important initiative. I just got off the phone with Gary Sinise’s agent in LA.
We’re working to enlist “Lt. Dan” to narrate a video documenting the annual cross-country motorcycle ride that has encamped at VFW Post #5327 in Wentzville, Missouri for 2-days each year for the past 23-years!
The ride started with just 8 riders 23 years ago. Last year, over 1,200 veterans on motorcycles came and encamped here to honor VFW Post #5327 and the vets there, who created America’s first Vietnam Veterans Memorial — long before Congress even authorized “The Wall” in DC.
We’re also working very hard to get Harley-Davidson take the lead role in underwriting a major program called “Embrace American Honor!”
The program is designed to benefit the ongoing work of VFW Post #5327 and other veterans organizations as part of the 24th and 25th Anniversary celebrations commemorating the First Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial.
Please ask all your veteran and Harley-riding pals to call Keith Wandell, the new Harley Chairman and ask him to take the lead role! He can be reached at 414-342-4680 via Donna Cobridge, his executive assistant.
HQ Address is:
Mr. Keith E. Wandell
Chairman of the Board
HarleyDavidson
3700 West Juneau
Milwaukee, WI 53208
The Embrace American Honor proposal is now at Harley HQ in Milwaukee – it is a panoramic concept that will honor American veterans and help support the Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House, Disabled American Veterans, Run For The Wall, Rolling Thunder, The Gary Sinise Foundation and the heroes of VFW Post #5327 – who were the first in the nation to honor the veterans of Vietnam and continue to this day to honor, help and support all veterans!
Thanks!!
Birk
There you go, folks! An invitation to be part of making something really big happen for veterans.
Please make those calls to Harley-Davidson HQ! Send those cards and letters to Harley-Davidson’s chairman! Help spread the word and help get this project off the ground! Thanks in advance!
