Election Day Song: ‘Obama, No Merci Beaucoup’

Two years ago today, I shared a post that included a music video for the song, “OBAMA, NO MERCI BEAUCOUP” (“No thank you, very much” in French), written and performed by Poor James and the Swamp Crows.  At the time I shared it here, it had received only a few views.  As of this morning, however, it had received more than 11,000 views and deserves more!  By sharing it today, I hope to remind voters of what baggage will come along with voting for Democrats in the general election Nov. 2.

Now, help me spread the word!

FYI: The lyrics for the song appear below:

He never met a tax he didn’t like.
He’s got crazy friends like Rev. Wright.
He’d rather give away the farm than fight.
No merci beaucoup.

Obama, no merci beaucoup,
Obama, no merci beaucoup,
Obama, no merci beaucoup,
No merci beaucoup.

He thinks oil should be against the law.
He runs down America.
He’s ashamed of his own Grandma.
No merci beaucoup.

Hey you good people that work all day,
he’s got plans to dock your pay,
and let his unemployed voters go and ___ it away,
No merci beaucoup.

Pop Singer Crows About Toilet Paper to Become Subject of Long-Awaited 4000th Career Post

EDITOR’S NOTE: Please file this under, “I couldn’t resist making pop singer Sheryl Crow the subject of my 4,000 career post!”

Seven weeks ago, I reported on Crow taking a sWipe at the Tea Party Movement.  It marked the 17th occasion on which Crow’s name had been mentioned in a post on this blog.  The vast majority of those mentions had to do with her repeated calls for people to cut back on their use of toilet paper.  Today, however, I offer access to a copy of one of Crow’s contract riders which, as shown below, calls for the use of post-consumer recycled toilet paper and paper towels at her concerts.  Click here or on the image below to view the rider, then click on the arrow tool provided to page 4 of 6 (Note:  The graphic will show “page 17 of 32″ at the bottom of the page).

Song Answers Questions About Why I Protest

People ask me a lot of questions:

  • They ask why I spend several hours every Saturday afternoon, enduring profanity-laced epithets and single-finger hand gestures from people offended by the signs I carry at anti-socialism rallies;
  • They ask what motivates me to shoot, edit and share hours of video that tell stories of people like Marty Martinez and doctors who oppose government-run health care; and
  • They ask, “What’s in it for you?”

Rather than was offer faith-, family- and freedom-laced answers to the questions above, I offer the Neal Fox music video above.

Described as “a tribute to all the people who go to rallies, sign petitions, call their Congressmen,” the song featured in the video is from the album, “Songs For The New Revolution,” available at WireDuck.com, CDBaby.com/cd/nealfox1 and iTunes.com.

Please share it with everyone you know.

Ava Aston Belts Out Great Song, ‘We the People’

“We The People” is a song Ava Aston wrote over the weekend of the 9/12 March in Washington, D.C.  It’s aim, she says, is to inspire Americans who are frustrated and feel discouraged to become invigorated and to stand up and take back our Republic.  Pretty awesome song, I’d say.  Definitely worth sharing, so share it!  To learn more about Ava, click here.

‘Drill, baby, drill!’ Rock ‘n’ Roll Quality Demands It

According to the folks at Overthinkingit.com, the decline in U.S. oil production is explained by the Hubbert Peak Theory, which states that “the amount of oil under the ground in any region is finite, therefore the rate of discovery which initially increases quickly must reach a maximum and decline.” Makes sense, right? Further, they explain that the same theory can apply to anything of a finite quantity that is discovered and quickly exploited with maximum effort.

‘Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad’ for Conservatives

Conservatives won governorships in New Jersey and Virginia yesterday, but lost the much-talked-about 23rd Congressional District race in Upstate New York.  To commemorate the election results, I thought a song from Meatloaf’s 1977 album, Bat Out of Hell, was in order.  After all, two out of three ain’t bad.

Bare Naked Fact: Million Dollars Won’t Be Enough

If you’ve listened to Top 40 radio anytime during the past two to three years, you’re likely familiar with the Bare Naked Ladies’ version of the song, “If I Had A Million Dollars,” as performed in the video above.  On the other hand, if you’ve paid any attention to politics during the past year, you’ve heard politicians talking in terms of hundreds of billions — and even trillions — of dollars.

Flash forward a year or two and, taking into account the hyperinflation many warn the United States is about to endure, the lyrics of the popular song will require an update in order to remain relevant.  Why?  Because a million dollars won’t be nearly enough.

“If I had a trillion dollars…”
