Please, Be Patient My Friends

If you’re wondering when I’ll be releasing my second nonfiction book, the working title for which is THE CLAPPER MEMO, here’s an update: I’m 90 percent of the way toward completion, but feel as if the last 10 percent is going to take four times longer than expected. Get that?

NewBookCover LR 2-17-2013Despite the frustration of not being able to get it out well ahead of Christmas, I remain convinced that THE CLAPPER MEMO is a must-do-it-right-the-first-time true story. In addition, I think it’s audience will be much larger than the one for my first book, Three Days In August, because the subject matter affects more people.

In addition, several big names involved in this story — including Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr., former CIA Director David Petraeus and International Security Assistance Force Commander (Gen.) John R. Allen — have found their way into a lot of headlines of late. In turn, some of those headlines — especially the ones about the so-called “Green-on-Blue” attacks in Afghanistan — figure prominently in THE CLAPPER MEMO.

Finally, people who’ve heard about this project — including several Green Berets, Navy SEALs, GITMO officials and others — keep sending information that’s putting more and more weight into the “meat” of the story.

So, be patient, my friends. I think it will be worth the wait!

FYI: Three Days In August is available in paperback and ebook via most online booksellers, including Amazon.com.

Petraeus to Suffer Through Second Day on Hill

Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of U.S. Forces in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker will soon begin their second day of testimony before members of the U.S. Senate. Below are images from his testimony on Capitol Hill yesterday.

Rudy Blasts Hillary in Online Video Ad

Like he was with his newspaper ad blasting MoveOn.org, Rudy Giuliani is right on target with the online video ad (below) that was posted on YouTube Sunday.

In the ad, the former New York City mayor calls for Sen. Hillary Clinton to apologize for her statements about Gen. David Petraeus and to denounce MoveOn.org for its anti-war, anti-military actions. Take a look.

If only Rudy was a genuine conservative, he might find support coming from people like me.

Freedoms Watch Sets Record Straight on War

Four days ago, I condemned the leftwing liberal organization MoveOn.org in a post, Liberals Sink to New Low with Anti-War Ad, for running what I described as a “shameful, despicable and un-American” advertisement that bashed Gen. David Petraeus in The New York Times. Today, I offer a counter to their ad from a patriotic group known as Freedoms Watch. Take a look.

Liberals Sink to New Low with Anti-War Ad

Shameful.

Despicable.

Un-American.

The words above seem sorely inadequate to describs the new low to which the liberal vermin at Moveon.org and the New York Times have sunk with their running of the advertisement shown at right in today’s edition of the well-known birdcage liner.

In order to find out if those in this year’s field of Democrat presidential candidates are willing to sink to the same extraordinary low, I encourage readers of this blog to contact each of them via any and all means possible and ask for one-word responses to this question:

YES or NO, do you agree with the message conveyed in the Moveon.org ad that ran today in the New York Times?

Please let me know what, if any, responses you receive so I can share those with readers of Bob McCarty Writes. Thanks in advance!

General Petraeus Offers Details on Progress in Iraq

In a post one week ago today, I highlighted the Vets For Freedom’s 10 Weeks to Testimony Project aimed at providing support for U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus and at stopping anti-war radicals and politicians on Capitol Hill from undermining the troops — and their mission — for the sake of short-term political gain.

In an effort to further highlight why the Vets For Freedom’s Project project warrants your attention, I direct you to an Investor’s Business Daily editorial published yesterday. Below are excerpts from the article which offers a taste of what General Petraeus, leader of U.S. Forces in Iraq, said about the progress in Iraq on the Hugh Hewitt Radio Show Wednesday:

On progress in the war: “(W)e have achieved what we believe is a reasonable degree of tactical momentum on the ground, gains against the principal near-term threat, al-Qaida Iraq, and also gains against what is another near-term threat, and also potentially the long-term threat: Shia militia extremists.”

On fighting al-Qaida: “(We have seen) the detention, or the capture or killing of (a) number of leaders that we have taken out in recent months . . . and the progress in terms of just clearing areas of them. . . . So there has been considerable progress against them.”

On Iran’s support for the enemy: “It has remained very substantial. . . . Iran has indeed provided substantial funding, training, equipping, arming, and even direction, in some cases, to what are called the special groups or secret cells affiliated with the militia of Muqtada al-Sadr.”

On our troops: “Our (military) leaders get it, our soldiers get it, they are these flexible, adaptable, thoughtful, culturally astute, and by and large, leaders and soldiers and Marines, and they are showing that on a daily basis here.”

Now is the time to show your support for General Petraeus and the Vets For Freedom’s 10 Weeks to Testimony Project. Why? Because radical anti-war groups are doing just the opposite.
