Al-Qaeda Business Publication Discovered

September 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

EDITOR’S NOTE: When I launched this blog almost four years ago, I spent much more time writing humorous pieces.  Today, as I devote more time to writing books than blogging, I thought I would share one of my humor posts originally published Jan. 8, 2008.  Enjoy! Bob McCarty Writes has obtained an exclusive copy of [...]

Franklin Graham Stands Up for Christians on CNN

May 5th, 2010 · No Comments

During an interview with CNN’s Campbell Brown yesterday, Rev. Franklin Graham criticized Pentagon leaders for rescinding his invitation to speak at a National Day of Prayer service at the Pentagon and for pretending “everything is okay” if we cave in to the demands of a couple of people (i.e., Muslims). Asked by Brown if he [...]

CBS Radio Fails to Mention Muslims’ Role in Massacre of Hundreds of Christians in Nigeria

March 8th, 2010 · 1 Comment

The differences between news reports on the recent massacre of hundreds in Nigeria are stark. Listening to St. Louis’ KMOX-AM 1120 this morning, I heard the CBS Radio News report about about some 200 people being killed in “sectarian violence” during the past few days had left at least 200 dead in Nigeria.  Conversely, Australia’s [...]

Girl Spends $5,000 to Fight McDonald’s Lawyers

January 25th, 2010 · 2 Comments

Three recent headlines convinced me that the Happy Meal® has been replaced with the Politically-Correct Meal® at your neighborhood McDonald’s®. Recently, I came across the story of Lauren McClucky, a big-hearted 19-year-old who lives in the Chicago area and has been using “McFest” as the name for her charitable concerts that raise $30,000 for Special [...]

No Buggy Required to Avoid Health Care Mandate

My first thought after reading the headline of an article in the Watertown (N.Y.) Daily Times was, “I’m gonna become Amish.”  The headline:  Amish families exempt from insurance mandate. Delving into the article, I learned that the health care reform legislation now floating through the halls of Congress does not specify that members of the [...]

Water Babies Video Tops List of Most-Viewed Posts

December 25th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I like to describe this blog as offering a mix of humor, politics, culture and capitalism.  In reviewing this blog’s Top 10 posts of 2009, I found humor attracted the most page views.  Topping this year’s Top 10 list was a July 2 post, Evian Water Babies Commercial — Wow!, which featured the incredible video [...]

Filmmaker Fears Fatwa, Opts to Destroy Statue of Christ the Redeemer Instead of Muslim Holy Place

November 6th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Inevitably, it seems, films about the end of the world generate much discussion — and, often, controversy. Five months ago, hype about the soon-to-be-released disaster film, 2012 (trailer below), prompted me to publish a piece under the headline, How Would the Governments of Our Planet Prepare Six Billion People for the End of the World? [...]
