Three days ago, Stacey Johnson wrote a comment about the woman behind sexual assault allegations against her ex-husband, Maj. Christian “Kit” Martin. In short, she explained, the woman had taken advantage of his kindness and “played him like a fiddle.” Today, with her permission, I’m able to share more of her feelings about the Army’s prosecution of the man with whom she had three children.
Below is the content of an email message Johnson sent early Thursday morning to Maj. Gen. Mark R. Stammer, the man who made the decision to prosecute the Army Ranger and attack helicopter pilot with 29 years of military service despite the fact multiple civilian and military investigations had determined the allegations to be without merit:
Mr. Stammer,
I write this plea for your help.
I know nothing of you personally. Perhaps you have children; perhaps you do not. Perhaps you value family; perhaps you do not. I only pray that you still believe in God and that you are convicted in your heart that we all answer for our choices in this life.
I would like to ask you some questions, sir.
If for a moment you would allow yourself to dream for a moment and close your eyes…
Just imagine:
You have worked your entire life serving your country. You had a failed marriage, but from that marriage God blessed you with 3 children. Now imagine for a moment that when your marriage failed, that a woman targeted you and manipulated you to the point that you lost many years with your children. Continue to think that you risked everything for your country–including your family and your life.
Now, think about your three children who spent many nights in bed crying themselves to sleep because they were worried about you-and crying because of the malicious schemes that this “woman” (actress) manipulated and inflicted on you and your children —and imagine you gave everything you had to give to this woman. You put her children through private schools and missed out on years of time with your biological children that could never be regained.
Now, if you can’t imagine how you feel in this situation–can you please imagine how those 3 children feel? Children that lost their childhood with their father because of a military career and because of games that a very sick woman played on you.
Sir, now imagine that this same woman threatened your career and your life if you in fact ended your relationship with her.
Now, imagine she completely tried to destroy your career, but as if that was not enough…now she is trying to take the rest of your life…and not only your life…but also the life of your children.
If you can’t imagine this scenario….can you imagine a higher ranking military official only thinking of his career gain and willing to sacrifice the life of a human being.
What a nightmare!
And now you, sir, have (had) an innocent man’s life in your hands. Major Christian R. Martin is an innocent man. I know this and I believe you do also. This man was my husband for almost 13 years. I know him. I know he is a good man, and again, I think you do also.
I have decided to come forward. I will share the fact that I came home to my personal residence to find CID in my home badgering my minor child. With guns on their hips and bringing tears to my children’s eyes. Why sir? Because you want a conviction. A conviction of an innocent man!!!
If you have no heart for men. Could you at least have a heart for children. You cannot imagine what our children have been through. My speculation is that you do not care.
I promise you this: There is a GOD. And I promise you that you will stand before him in judgment one day. My prayer is that somehow God softens your heart, and somehow you realize what you are doing to this innocent man before it is too late.
At this point, I do not know if you have the power to do anything to help Christian Martin. His career is destroyed….. and now you try to take his life.
For what? Power? Promotion?
Often in life, when we mistreat mankind, God works in mysterious ways. I beg you to change your position and help him. His life and his children are at risk.
Mr. Stammer, I know Christian R. Martin probably better than anyone. He DID NOT COMMIT THESE CRIMES OF WHICH ACCUSED.
Sir, with all undue respect, I promise you that only through an act of repentance can you be forgiven.
Laugh if you will…but in the end, I assure you that you will not be laughing. Hell is a very HOT place.
Sincerely,
Stacey S. Johnson
Powerful words, especially when one considers his trial is set to begin Dec. 1 at Fort Campbell, Ky.
